Eligible Professions

Applicants with training or credentials in the following professions may apply for International PSW Membership with OPSWA:

  • Nursing
  • Midwife
  • Physician
  • PSW equivalent training from the United Kingdom or Australia
  • Professionals eligible for registration with the Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA)

If you match one of these eligible professions, please follow the payment link below and upload the required documentation. Failure to upload the proper documents within 48 hours will result in your membership being placed on hold.

Important Requirement

All International PSW Members must complete the OPSWA PSW Refresher Course to work as a Personal Support Worker in Ontario.

The cost of the PSW Refresher Course is included in the membership fee.

PSW Refresher Course information:
The PSW Refresher Course is not required to renew your IPSW Membership, regardless of whether you completed the course previously. However, the course is recommended for members who would benefit from reviewing current PSW practices, professional expectations, and Ontario care standards.
