I Am A PSW

OPSWA & Ontario Ministry of Long-Term Care

In partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Long-Term Care, OPSWA is promoting joining Ontario’s PSW workforce.

You Could Be Eligible For Funding

Up to $5,440 to PSW students as a stipend during their clinical placement in a long-term care home and/or home and community care employer.

$10,000 to recent PSW graduates in exchange for a 12-month commitment to work in a long-term care home or for a home and community care employer.

An additional $10,000 to support relocation costs for those recent PSW graduates committing to work in a long-term care home or with a home and community care employer in a rural, remote, or northern area for 12 months.

To improve and promote recruitment of PSWs into long-term care, we are hosting job fairs and community events over the next 8 months across the province.

Our goal is to promote the PSW as a professional career of choice in Ontario. Through our events, we will be educating the public on the role of a PSW and how vital they are to Ontario’s health care system.

Meet Our Ambassadors

Nicole

Nicole has been a proud PSW for over 10 years, a graduate of Niagara College. Over the years she has worked in the various towns and cities in the Niagara Region.

Tonya

Raised in a socially conscious family where her grandmother, one of the first black nurses hired by the Victorian General Hospital, instilled in her a love of providing care. This drew Tonya to pursue a career as a PSW. Tonya is the proud mother of three daughters, two stepdaughters and 6 grandchildren.

Kaitlyn

Kaitlyn knew it was time to take her passion and put it into play. She started the PSW program and graduated with honours in 2022. Since then, Kaitlyn has worked in hybrid care and now in home care. She is excited to grow her knowledge and share her drive with others.
