Ian DaSilva is the Chief Operating Officer of the Ontario Personal Support Worker Association (OPSWA) and the Canadian Support Workers Association (CANSWA), where he plays a key leadership role in advancing the voice, recognition, and professionalization of support workers across Ontario and Canada.
Born in Toronto, Ian brings extensive experience across the private, non-profit, and governmental sectors, with a strong focus on strategic planning and policy development. Since 2018, he has worked with OPSWA and CANSWA, overseeing association operations and contributing to the organizations’ growth, stability, and impact within the healthcare sector.
In his role, Ian leads the day-to-day operations of both associations while supporting key initiatives related to membership growth, partnerships, and organizational strategy. He works closely with government bodies, healthcare organizations, and sector partners to advocate for meaningful policy change and improved working conditions for Personal Support Workers (PSWs).
Ian has been instrumental in strengthening OPSWA and CANSWA’s presence as trusted leaders in the healthcare sector, helping to shape conversations around workforce development, professional standards, and public protection. His leadership supports the associations’ ongoing efforts to elevate the PSW profession and ensure that both workers and the communities they serve are supported through strong, ethical, and sustainable frameworks.
Ian holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from the University of Toronto and lives in Whitby with his family.
