Salary and Remuneration:

  • $70,000 to $100,000 based on experience and education.

Schedule:

Monday to Friday with required additional shifts on a monthly basis

Role Description:

Principal is seeking an engaged and dedicated assistant to provide support for daily activities.  We have an incredible work environment and a great team. The workplace environment is exclusive, comfortable, and dynamic. This position is for an individual that presents with a great deal of courtesy, is well mannered and demonstrates a high degree of professionalism in all settings. This position involves providing care solely to one client and provides many benefits that make the work environment consistent and pleasant to work in each day. This role is for an individual that respects the desire for the Principal to be independent while working closely to support their daily activities. The key responsibility is to deliver high-quality care and service that will support the Principal to live comfortably and safely.

This is a two-person adult household. The Principal employs other service providers to maintain the household; some of those service providers are a cleaning service, property maintenance, and administrative staff to assist with the planning and coordinating various responsibilities. Job Duties:

  • Provide assistance with daily activities of daily living such as oral hygiene, grooming, hygiene, skin care, dressing, bathing and all personal care. 
  • Provide assistance with Rising and Retiring.
  • Transfers to and from wheelchair to bed and chair or vehicle.
  • Positioning and safe transferring.
  • Must be safety conscious and practice safe lifting techniques.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demand requirement of the role.
  • Knowledgeable in the field of exercise therapy and rehabilitative programs, or functional exercise programs.
  • Dispense and administer medications.
  • Assist with daily physical exercises routine.
  • Communicate with the Principal and team members via email or communication book at the end of each shift.
  • Accompany Principal to medical appointments.
  • Accompany Principal for frequent travel both domestic and international.
  • Transport Principal to appointments and other activities.
  • Perform all driving and transportation duties.
  • Preparation of and administration of meals and snacks. 
  • Excellent Attendance Record. 
  • Other related duties and support services.

Household Duties:

  • Maintain a clean and safe living environment.
  • Perform light household duties such as cleaning, laundry, removing trash and washing dishes, as directed by the Principal, or household members.
  • Perform a variety of duties such as obtaining household supplies, groceries or running errands.
  • Ensure a safe environment for the Principal by reporting and documenting unsafe conditions such as broken equipment.

Technical Skills:

  • Develop a comprehensive knowledge of equipment used for personal care and ensure equipment is in good working order. Notifies the Principal if equipment needs to be replaced or repaired. Ensures daily cleaning or maintenance is undertaken for the equipment to be in good working order.
  • Basic computer skills – Microsoft, Microsoft Calendar or Google Calendar and use of mobile technology such as phones, headphones, and tablets.

  • Consistently practice of supporting and carrying out the Principal’s daily activities, preferences, and preferred routine with dignity and respect.

Licence/Certification:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have a valid passport. 
  • Current CPR certification and first aid certificate.
  • Must be fully vaccinated and up to date.
  • Proof of current immunization for measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (MMRV), including Hepatitis B.
  • Up to date and proof of negative TB skin test or negative x-ray.
  • Complete or completion of a satisfactory Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screen prior to and throughout employment as requested by the employer is required.
  • You must be legally able to work in Canada to apply for this position and fully vaccinate. Unless you have an exemption on medical grounds pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code, subject to supporting evidence.

Physical Demands:

  • Standing, walking, lifting, and bending.
  • Work is moderately heavy, involving lifting, walking, standing, bending, pushing, and pulling of equipment.
  • Able to lift over 60 lbs and assist with transfers.
  • Frequent moderate and heavy exertion (e.g. pushing wheelchairs etc.)
  • Able to bend, climb, stoop, reach and stand an average of 4 hours per day frequently with a good hand, arm and shoulder dexterity.
